Our vision is for Greyhound Racing Victoria to become the world’s maximum respected greyhound racing body: widely regarded for the market position and reputation we have created for greyhound racing in Victoria. A key piece of its role is the setting of standards, regulating and policing the industry and the people involved. The greyhound racing industry makes a substantial contribution of more than 300million to the Victorian economy annually, both as a recreational pursuit, and as an industry that employs more than 300 people and generates millions of dollars in wagering. RV has the task of ensuring that industry participants fully comprehend their responsibilities in relation to the greyhounds they own and train. They urge and foster continual improvement of training and husbandry techniques through research and education and are committed to the ongoing welfare of greyhounds throughout their racing careers and into retirement. RV is in the business of governing, operating and promoting greyhound racing of the highest integrity to wagering operators and clubs for the enjoyment of members, wagerers and concourse racegoers in Victoria, nationally and internationally. We have defined seven operating principles to guide the way we work and how we receive decisions. We seek to ensure greyhound welfare it is considered in every decision we take. Our decisions are based upon the available evidence. We are clear in our work and accountable for our actions. We have mutual respect for our members, stakeholders and colleagues that is reflected in what we say, what we do and how we look. We create solutions to issues and capitalism on opportunities. We are unprejudiced in our decision making and apply the greatest scrupulous standards to everything that we do. We consult and collaborate with our members and stakeholders, perpetual willing to listen and respond to ideas, concerns or complaints. Alan has an MBA and Bachelor of Economics and was awarded the Public Service Medal in 199. Robert is a competent accountant (CPA) having over 25 years’ experience in managing RV Finances. He has earlier accounting experience in hotel, clubs and also banking. Gavin is an experienced veterinarian with special expertise in racing greyhounds, spending over 15 years in veterinary clinical practice. He has attended over 500 greyhound race meetings as on track veterinarian, both in Fresh Zealand and Victoria. In addition he has spent over 13 years in senior management roles, with both a potent strategic and operational focus, most recently as Australian General Manager of Gribbles Veterinary Pathology. Louise has held a range of executive and senior communications roles across the Victorian Government, advising Premiers and Cabinet Ministers and senior executives and leading teams in areas including strategic campaigns, issues and media management and major events. Shane’s most recent role was at WorkSafe Victoria as the Head of Operations Emergency Management where he was responsible for more than 180 officers that enforce the occupational health and safety laws in Victoria. Shane has qualifications in business management, training, safety, inspection investigation, governance and is a graduate and member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. In addition to these, he has held senior Marketing positions with international companies Mars, Mattel toys and Simplot foods.
